What is a Wedsite?

A wedsite is a personal wedding website created in order to share information about their engagement, upcoming or past wedding, a honeymoon and/or anything else wedding related. Wedsites often feature pictures of the engaged couple (and later of the wedding) and information about venues, driving directions and other helpful features.

Things to Keep in Mind When Looking for a Wedsite

Time

Wedsites are typically one of the first things that a couple creates in their wedding planning process. No need to worry about finishing everything - it can start out simply and grow as you know more. Having a wedsite early on can be helpful because you can answer a lot of repeat questions in an efficient way. How did he (or she) propose? What does the ring look like? These are questions that can be answered at the click of a button if you have a wedsite.

Cost

Weddings are expensive enough as it is, but wedsites won't break the bank. While there are some free options available, they often run ads and have, let's face it, ugly templates to choose from. I say shell out the 40-60 dollars for a wedsite (these contracts will typically get you one to two years of access). Also, select wedsites allow you to buy your own domain, so instead of beckyandgeorge.wedsite.com, it becomes, beckyandgeorge.com for a small fee, provided that it's available.

Design

Not all wedsites are created equally. You want to make sure to pick out a template that has ease of use, so that even your Aunt Linda can use it if she wants. You pay attention to every other detail, don't skimp out on this one. Let's face it: today's society are graphic design snobs. The web is a far cry from what it was in the beginning (i.e. geeky and hideous). Put some thought into the design, and be sure to shop around. Go to forums and see what people have liked.

Features

Wedsites are now offering more and more cool and convenient features, including RSVP capabilities, registry links, embedded maps, guestbooks, photo galleries, permanent copies of your wedsite on CD, etc.
