Wedding party

The wedding party (sometimes mistakenly referred to as the "bridal party") includes all of the bridal and/or groom attendants. Traditionally, members of the wedding party participate in the wedding ceremony in some way.

Tips

  • Be sure to choose your attendants no later than 6-12 months before the wedding. This leaves time for purchasing and altering their wedding day attire. Time varies for different attendants; bridesmaids typically need more notice than the groomsmen.

Choosing the Wedding Party

  • The bride chooses the bridemaids and the groom chooses the groomsmen.
  • Although not required, traditionally the bride will ask the sister/s of the groom to be in her wedding party and vice versa.

  • If you cannot include all the special people in your life in your wedding party, consider having them be greeters, readers, ushers, etc.
