A wedding day timeline is a timeline that outlines the sequence and time of events on a wedding day.

Tips

  • Start with the ceremony time (usually the first thing in place) and work backwards.
  • Keep in mind the photography and how long pictures take. When is your photographer arriving? Do you want time for pics of just the two of you? Are you seeing each other before the ceremony - are you up for a "first look" opportunity to take some of the pics before the ceremony?
  • Include things like arrival and departure times of wedding party and vendors, when certain things should be finished, and when to do the elements of the reception (cutting of the cake, bouquet toss, first dance etc.)
  • A day of coordinator or consultant can help create a time line for clients.
  • Make sure every vendor in your wedding receives a copy of your wedding day timeline in advance. It doesn't hurt to arm your Maid of Honor with one as well!
  • Give your DOC, Planner, or MOH a list of all of the important contacts for the day (including groomsmen, bridesmaids, parents) with their phone numbers.
