Shoes

Shoes are considered an important purchase by many brides and bridesmaids.

Bridal Shoes

Because brides spend much of their wedding day on their feet, comfort is often a priority in selecting bridal shoes. This is especially true when the shoes are not visible under a wedding dress.

Another common criteria for bridal shoes is height. Brides often wear flats or high heels, to manage the height differential between the bride and groom.

Some brides buy multiple shoes: one for the wedding ceremony, and another for the wedding reception. This is especially important if the bride is going to spend a lot of time dancing.

One last consideration in the number of outfits worn by the bride. With multi-cultural weddings on the rise, brides can wear up to 3 or 4 outfits during a single wedding. Some brides choose to vary their shoes with each outfit, which means they would need up to 3-4 shoes for their wedding day.

Tips

  • Always take note of the type of ground you will be walking on. Brides who decide to get married on beaches or on grass should make sure shoes, such as stilettos, don't sink in
  • Break into your wedding shoes at least 2-4 weeks before you spend the whole day in them on your wedding day
  • Many brides utilize the chance to personalize their wedding shoes by adding monogram crystals or stickers

Bridesmaid Shoes

Bridesmaids are often asked to wear shoes of a similar color and look - for example, "silver strappy shoes". Some brides ask their bridemaids to wear exactly the same shoe, especially if their dresses are shorter (i.e. tea length).

Groom's Shoes

Grooms most often wear formal shoes. These can be rented or bought. It is customary that formal shoes be freshly shined on a wedding day.
