[edit] Program Contents

At its simplest, the wedding program names who is in the wedding party and gives a brief outline of the ceremony. Many times the couple will use the program to describe certain traditions, provide words to any readings and songs, mention loved ones who have passed away or cannot travel, and specifically thank parents and anyone participating in the wedding. Some couples may even provide their new home address, give directions to the reception location, and give an approximate timeline at the reception if there are several activities or more than one room is utilized.

[edit] Trends

Couples are placing a lot of creative twists on the programs, both to personalize the programs and to add a little fun. The programs may carry the theme of a wedding, if there is one.

  • One trend is to have the programs follow the design of the invitations. If there is a certain motif on the invitations, it may be repeated on the programs.
  • Another trend is to create a wedding program fan out of the program, which has the dual function of carrying the information while keeping guests cool.

[edit] Tips

  • You usually do not have to print enough programs for every single guest.
