[edit] Shopping Tips

  • Most bridal gowns run a size or two large.
  • Try on a broad range of styles, even ones you don't think you will like.
  • Wedding dresses can take up to 6 months to come in so start shopping early.
  • Wear a strapless bra or any additional undergarments if you feel uncomfortable undressing in front of your bridal consultant.
  • Shop around as prices on the same style can vary from store to store.
  • Do not buy a dress in a smaller size with plans to lose weight.
  • Don't feel pressured to make a purchase right away.

[edit] Online Shopping

There are stores online that sell dresses couple hundred dollars cheaper than actual retail salons. They do not have any overhead that accompanies a brick and mortar building so they can pass along those savings to the consumers. A tip for shopping online is definitely to shop in retails first trying on several sizes and style to get an idea of which dresses fit you. Then you can do a little research and order the same dress online.

[edit] Fitting Tips

  • Schedule alterations well in advance of your wedding date, as you may require up to 3 alteration appointments.
  • Bring the shoes and undergarments you will wear on your wedding day so the dress can be altered accordingly.
  • Bring your veil so you can see your entire wedding ensemble together.
  • Discuss the different types of bustles that will work with your dress.
