Weddingbee Boards

An usher greets guests and guides them to their seats at a wedding ceremony. As a general rule of thumb, 1 usher is needed for every 50 guests.

Traditionally ushers were male family members or friends of the groom, but anyone can be an usher.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and guide them to their seats
• Rent a tuxedo.
• Attend the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
• Pass out wedding programs
• Deploy the aisle runner before the bride walks down the aisle and pull it back after the ceremony.
• Walk the mother of the bride down the aisle.

Etiquette

• Traditionally, guests of the bride are typically seated on the left and guests of the groom are typically seated on the right.
• An usher may escort a female guest to her seat by extending his right arm or he may simply walk her to her seat.
