Transportation usually refers to the type of vehicle(s) the couple chooses to travel in on their wedding day but also can include the entire wedding party, family members or other important guests.
Budget, wedding theme and the overall "feel" of your special day are factors to consider when selecting wedding modes of transportation.
Customs
- The bride and her father often ride to the ceremony site together.
- Normally a procession to the ceremony location begins with the bride's mother and several of the bride's attendants in the first vehicle. The bride and her father will go in the last vehicle.
- One of these vehicles will also be used to transport the newly married couple to the reception site after the ceremony.
Traditional Options
- Stretch Limousine or Stretch SUV (Hummer) - The most popular option since these vehicles are big and can accommodate many people as well as your bridal gown.
- Renting a car - A flexible option that allows the couple to tailor the vehicle to their budget, theme and personal style.
- Using your own car - If renting just isn't the budget, ask a friend to act as your "chauffeur" on your wedding day... it will still make you feel special.
- Party bus - Gaining in popularity, the party bus is a fun option that can accommodate larger groups of people and get the festivities started right away!
Unusual Transportation Options
Depending on the site, you can make a truly grand entrance and/or exit on your wedding day!
- Horse and carriage
- Riding horseback
- Tandem bike
- Golf cart
- Snow-mobile
- Canoe
- Hot-air balloon
- Helicopter
