Table cards are cards put on each table at a wedding reception to distinguish between tables.
Traditionally, table cards were called "table numbers". They were usually big white squares on cart stock with big black numbers printed on them.
Over time, couples started to name their tables after more abstract concepts. Popular table card themes include flowers, islands, locations of personal importance, and the like.
As numbers have become less common, the term "table cards" has become more standard.
Couples are finding very unique ways to label their tables, using names or numbers.
