Mexico is a country located in Central America, popular for honeymoons and destination weddings. Some of the most popular destinations in Mexico are Acapulco, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Cancun and Cabo San Lucas.
Mexico also has many cultural and historical sites such as the Mayan pyramids that still stand there today, Chichen Itza (an ancient Mayan city now in ruins) and Teotihuacan (also an ancient Mayan city now in ruins).
Some American couples choose to marry on the gorgeous sandy beaches as it's nearby, its annual tropical weather season is predictable and it provides the exotic elements some couples look for when planning a destination wedding.
- It is important to check with Mexico's marriage license laws in regards to the proper legal documents to bring. Fortunately if a Mexico marriage is legal in Mexico, it is recognized as legal in the United States
- Many resorts require that the bride and groom be in Mexico 3-4 business days prior to the ceremony date
- Some sites mandate a blood test and medical examination upon arrival
- Keep wary of Spring Break dates for schools, as those dates often result in a price hike
