A makeup trial is a trial makeup session with a potential makeup artist. Trials generally give the bride a sense for how the makeup artist would apply her makeup on her wedding day.
Some makeup artists are also hair stylists, allowing them to do a hair trial as well.

Makeup trials can range between $50-$150. You can have as many makeup trials as you want to determine which artists are more suitable to your tastes. The trials can be held at a salon, at the artist's home or in your own home. You can even have trials at the makeup counter where an artist can show you how to put on your wedding makeup and all s/he require you to do is make one purchase of their products. This usually cost no more than $50 which may be the cheapest route to go if you are on a budget.
1. Know your skin - Be sure to tell the MUA what type of skin you have and any other important information about your skin. They will decide what products to use on you based on this information.
2. Know your style - Do some research before the trial and print some examples of the styles you like.
3. Know your "don't"s - Print some examples of styles you don't like and the MUA must avoid at all costs.
4. Go with a trusted friend - Take someone that could be brutally honest with you (and the MUA) if need be but that won't get in the MUA's way.
