A caterer is a wedding vendor that provides food service at weddings or any other event. Usually, the caterer works with a team of other chefs to prepare the courses desired by the couple.

Tips for Choosing a Caterer
- Ask friends, family and colleagues if they've used catering for any events and who they used.
- If your area has any local wedding magazines, they usually have a list of caterers in the vendor section of their magazine.
- Wedding fairs, consultants and party planners can make recommendations for caterers.
- Ask your favorite restaurant if they can do catering for an event and inquire about details. If they don't do catering, ask for a recommendation.
- The phone book is a good resource.
Tips for Interviewing a Caterer
- All couples should have a meeting with their top choices for caterers.
- Couples can request sample menus from the caterers to give them a feel of what dishes will be served and can also be one of the main reasons for not choosing caterers as they may not have the types of dishes the couple desires, out of their budget, etc.
- Ask who will be in charge or preparing the food and who will be managing the serving.
- Familiarize the caterer with the site so they are already aware of where anything is (utensils, kitchen, etc.)
- Finally, ask for a food tasting so you can determine whether or not the food is in your tastes.
