Bouquet toss

A bouquet toss is when a bride chooses to toss her bridal bouquet during a wedding reception. The toss is usually done over the bride's shoulder to a a group of the single female guests. It is said that whoever catches the bouquet will be the next person to be married.

Some single women object to being forced to participate in the bouquet toss, finding it to be embarrassing and demeaning. An alternative that's growing in popularity is the anniversary dance, where the bouquet is given away to the couple that's been together for the longest time. Some brides choose not to give away their bouquet at all.

[edit] Trends

  • Sometimes a florist will provide a "toss bouquet" so the bride does not have to toss her bridal bouquet.
  • Some brides use break-away bouquets that break into many mini bouquets and contain wishes or fortunes on each mini bouquet.
  • Some brides include an "incentive" in the bouquet (gift card).
