Attractions

Barcelona has many parks. Montjuic is the largest park, Ciutadella Park comes in as the second-largest, followed by Guinardo Park and the famous Park Guell, which was designed by Antoni Gaudi.

Along with parks, Barcelona has a total of seven beaches. Sant Sebastia and Barceloneta beaches are the largest, oldest and the beaches that are most visited by tourists and natives in Barcelona.

If you or your partner are more indoors-inclined, there are many museums and various architectural sites in Barcelona such as the National Museum of Art of Catalonia, the Picasso Museum or the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia.

The Barri Gotic (or Gothic Quarter) is a perfect place for Romanesque architecture and Gothic architecture. The well-known example of Gothic architecture in the Gothic quarter is La Sagrada Familia, a church begun by Antoni Gaudi in 1882 that is still being built today.

Climate

Barcelona's climate is characterized by warm summers and mild winters. January and February are the coldest months while July and August are the hottest months.

Tips

  • The best times to visit Barcelona is during spring and early summer because of the pleasant weather and not much tourists are there.
  • Spain is an affordable country. Couples can get by for around 20 Euro a day. For a more comfortable honeymoon, couples should be willing to spend at least 40 Euro a day. For an excellent honeymoon, 120 Euro a day can give you Spain at its finest.
  • The metro (subway) is the easiest way to get around Barcelona. Renting a car can be frustrating because of the traffic and the sometimes cavalier attitudes of the natives, so it's best to utilize a taxi or another private driving system.
