Andorra

Andorra is officially called the Principality of Andorra. It is a small country on the border of Spain and France. Couples are starting to frequent Andorra because of its major ski resorts and the shopping.

Attractions

Aside from the major ski resorts Soldeu-Tarter, Pal and Arinsal in Andorra, there are also many historic and cultural sites to see. The Santa Coloma Church is one of the oldest churches in Andorra. Also in Santa Coloma is the Castle of Sant Vicenç d'Enclar, which was built between the 9th and 12th century.

After a long day out on the slopes, couples can visit Caldea, one of Europe's largest health spas in the heart of the Andorran mountains.

Andorra is well-known for its shopping. Couples can expect to pay at least 20-30% less in Andorra than in Spain or France because of low taxes on imported goods.

Climate

The climate in Andorra is fairly pleasant. The summers and winters are mild, rather than very hot or cold. But due to its high altitude, there is more snow in the winters and is cooler in the summer.

Tips

  • Andorra can be driven through quickly from North to South. Many of the natural sights can be seen this way such as the mountains, countryside, etc.
  • Andorra does not have an airport, so you can either land in Barcelona, Spain or Toulouse, France and either drive, take a bus or take a train to Andorra.
  • The best time to travel to Andorra is from May to the end of September. August is the busiest month.
  • If couples are going for the skiing, the best time to travel is between November through April.
