Adults-only wedding

An adults-only wedding is a wedding where children are not invited.

Some couples choose to allow flower girls and ring bearers as an exception to the adults-only policy.

[edit] Tips

  • Whatever policy you come up with regarding children, make sure that it is consistently enforced. If there are exceptions to your policy, some families will come away feeling like they were treated unfairly.
  • Many couples struggle with how to convey that a wedding is adults-only on their Save the Dates and/or invitations. Whatever you decide, make sure to informally spread the word through friends and family that the wedding is adults-only.
  • If you know a particular person is likely to bring kids to the wedding, you probably want to talk to them ahead of time (or make sure that someone else speaks with them).
  • Keep in mind that for out of town guests, making a wedding adults-only is likely to mean that those guests will not be coming.
  • An alternative to an adults-only wedding can be offering on site babysitting.
